Steven Balderama is an individual whose essence cannot be encapsulated by mere words. With a personality that was as abrasive as it was endearing, Steven was above all else, profoundly generous. In 2018, he and his wife, Ashley, founded South Bay Strength Company. Their journey was fraught with challenges, caught in the perpetual tug-of-war between Steven's desire to freely give and Ashley's pragmatic need to run a viable business.

Sadly, Steven passed away in June 2023, leaving a void in the Strength community. To honor Steven's legacy and instill meaning to his untimely departure, Ashley has set up the "Bummy Lends a Handy" scholarship foundation. This initiative aims to foster a stronger strength community by providing a year-long gym membership to recipients across the country, based on a unique application process.
